The Avoca, on the corner opposite the Husky Pub

Built by James Dent, the Avoca was located on the corner of Hawke and Owen Streets, opposite the Jervis Bay Hotel. Conducted by Miss Bessy Dent it was recognised as a popular accommodation. It was still standing until the early 1970’s, at which time the land was re-developed as tourist accommodation over retail shops.
