Shoalhaven South Coast National Parks and Wildlife
The Booderee National Park in the Jervis Bay Territory (JBT) covers some 6,000 hectares and is feature packed.
The Jervis Bay Botanic Gardens feature many walks, a rainforest gully and a wide variety of mostly local native flora.
Take a trip out to the ruined lighthouse at Cape St. George and take in the breathtaking cliff top views.
Jervis Bay features a pod of about 60 dolphins which make the bay their home, so there is always a good chance of spotting them - you can even take one of the boat tours to just about guarantee seeing the dolphins at play.
During the winter months boat charters are available to take you out around the protected sanctuary of Bowen Island where there is a seal and Little Penguin breeding colony.
And of course the NSW South Coast is famous for Humpback Wales which can often be seen while migrating during June/July and September/November.
The Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay areas abound in birdlife and many species can be seen while walking through the Booderee National Park. With a bit of luck you may even spot the magnificent Black Cockatoos - "Nowra" is Aboriginal for black cockatoo.
Australian Naval Aviation Museum
Located outside HMAS Albatross south west of Nowra is Australia's Museum of Flight - a must see for any aviation or navy fan.
The museum features a large collection of aircraft from helicopters to folding wing carrier aircraft.
Included is a snack bar, souvenir shop and there is a viewing platform overlooking the Naval airfield.
Open every day, except Christmas and Boxing Day.
South Coast Water Sports
Want to get out and enjoy the magnificent Jervis Bay waters?
There are numerous tour operators offering Dolphin watching tours, catamaran trips and diving, or you can hire a canoe or sailboat and see Jervis Bay at your own leisure.
Fishing, swimming and surfing are all catered for as well - you can even get surfing lessons at many of the Jervis Bay beaches.
